Online Tuesday Fascia-Informed Yoga with Amy

This 45-minute online class is for all levels. No yoga experience necessary. Have some props ready to get the most from your experience. A set of blocks, a strap and a good mat should do it!

Be aware that we combine this online class with an in-person group. We can sometimes be rambunctious! We like to enjoy ourselves and not take yoga too seriously. If you are looking for a hard-core yoga class. This is not it. You are always welcome to contact me if you are not sure if our class is right for you. [email protected]

What is Fascia-Informed™ Yoga (FIY)?

Have you avoided yoga because you think you'll never be able to do all those poses? Well then, FIY is perfect for you. Our goal is not to do the perfect yoga pose. Our goal is to do the perfect pose for you!

In FIY poses are the guide, not the goal. We use traditional poses to improve posture and guide us toward a variety of body positions. When we move into unique and unusual positions we don't normally put our body into in the course of a day we stretch into places that don't often experience movement.

When we don't move in unique positions, our fascia can become stiff. When we do routine and repetitive fitness activities, we can create stiffer areas of our body and other areas that are less stiff or weaker. To be truly fit, we need variety.

Every part including every cell in our body needs to experience movement to be healthy. This may be compression, elongation, shear, bounce or twists. This variety of movement helps our fluids to flow inside our body. This is the best way to make sure every cell in your body is getting the nutrition they need to function optimally.
In FIY we move toward a pose and tweak it for each person with subtle guiding cues.
Open to all levels including beginners ages 10+.

This class is free to members. All other $15 per class. Is this your first class with us? Use FIRSTCLASS to get your first class free!

Myofascial Self-Treatment: Releasing Stuck Emotions

This amazing 2-hour workshop is co-led by Lisa Basile MA, LMHP and Amy Mayer OTD, OTR/L, RYT.

If you're familiar with the work of Bessel van der Kolk or Dr. John Sarno you know that emotions are often the culprit when experiencing physical pain. In our culture we feel more comfortable discussing and seeking out help for our physical pain. This is not always true for our emotional pain. Therefore, our intelligent bodies often express our emotional pain as a physical problem.

Another way to think about emotions causing pain, is the continued release of cortisol and the unconsciously held tension causing pressure in our fascial system. This pressure causes the nerves in the fascia to be compressed and irritated.

In this workshop we will apply the principles of myofascial release through gentle pressure into the body to release physically painful areas. During the process we'll identify and release any emotions related to the painful area through a guided meditation process.

This workshop combines the principles of myofascial release with underlying emotional distress components. This workshop integrates the mind and body and takes your healing journey to the next level. As we release the fascial system, we will also be working with the underlying and overlapping emotional content that oftentimes creates blockages in the physical body, slowing down recovery.

We are excited to share this truly holistic experience with you. Our goal is to help people to heal and experience a more meaningful connection between their bodies and mind, creating greater health, wellness, and loving compassion of the self.

If you have ever wondered if there is an emotional component to your body pain, this workshop will help you discover this!

The workshop will be co-led by Amy Mayer OTD, OTR/L, RYT and Lisa Basile MA, LMHP.

If you've attended a Level 1 or 2 myofascial self-treatment workshop in the past and have your own equipment (similar to the picture below) you may use this discount code: 15$OFF.

If you have not attended a workshop in the past or have but would like an additional set of therapy balls to take home, they will be provided for you with the full price of the workshop.

This two-hour course investment per person is $100 and includes your equipment to take home unless you use the code above.

If you have any questions about the workshop, please feel free to contact Amy or Lisa.

Our approach to myofascial techniques integrates the most recent science, problem-solving for clients in traditional settings, and how to keep yourself safe when practicing.

The primary functions of the fascial system will be discussed along with when the fascia can become dysfunctional causing mobility restrictions, pain, balance issues, and fatigue. After discussing the primary application principles of myofascial techniques, we will practice several hands-on patient care strategies appropriate for traditional healthcare settings. You'll get lots of hands-on practice! We’ll wrap up with case studies (bring your cases) and discussion.

Think your area of practice doesn't apply? We'll discuss how to work with difficult clients who are reluctant to participate in therapy, clients who are limited in available positions to work on them, and how to explain how myofascial therapy and fascia wellness is relevant to their individual issues so you can build rapport and reduce refusals.

You'll leave confident and excited to begin applying your new skills immediately!

Another recent comment on our survey...

"I came to this course to get the feel for how much pressure to apply as I'd always been told that it's not a lot of pressure. I now feel like I know how to apply the pressure and wait for the release rather than just shearing across. I especially enjoyed all the conversation whether it was research or the applicability to all clientele across the lifespan. Very informative course! "
