Myofascial Self-Treatment for the Breasts, Chest and Upper Back

Join us for a supportive, science-informed workshop dedicated to breast cancer survivors, their loved ones, and anyone seeking relief from pain or tension in the breast, chest and upper back areas. This session focuses on gentle myofascial self-care techniques designed to address common post-treatment issues such as scar tissue tension, restricted movement, and chronic pain.

You’ll leave empowered with practical skills and tools to continue your healing at home.

Why this Workshop is Important

The fascial system often becomes restricted after surgeries and treatments necessary for treatment. These fascial restrictions can lead to lingering pain, decreased range of motion, and even complications such as lymphedema, which can surface even long after treatment. Up to 60% of breast cancer survivors report ongoing shoulder pain and mobility limitations.

This self-treatment workshop provides effective, science-backed techniques to help address these challenges and promote sustainable relief.

What You Will Learn

This workshop is designed to help you better understand your body and feel more confident caring for it. Together, we will explore how treatment, surgery, scars, radiation, and everyday protective postures can contribute to tension or discomfort in the breast, chest, ribs, shoulders, and upper back.

You will have an opportunity to:

  • Learn about fascia in clear, practical language and why it matters after breast cancer treatment or upper-body surgery

  • Notice patterns of tightness, pulling, tenderness, stiffness, or limited movement in your own body

  • Practice gentle self-treatment techniques for the breast, chest, ribs, shoulders, and upper back

  • Learn how to use pressure, breath, position, and movement in ways that feel supportive rather than forceful

  • Explore ways to approach scars and sensitive areas with care and body awareness

  • Discover simple movements to support reaching, posture, shoulder comfort, and upper-body mobility

  • Learn how to modify each technique based on your comfort, medical history, and personal needs

  • Leave with a simple home routine and the tools to continue your self-care practice

All workshop tools are provided and included with registration, so you can continue practicing at home.

Who is Invited?

This workshop is for anyone who would like gentle, fascia-informed support for comfort and mobility in the breast, chest, shoulder, and upper-body area.

You may be newly recovering from breast cancer treatment or upper-body surgery, or you may be living with tightness, discomfort, or movement changes months or years later.

Women experiencing breast, chest, shoulder, or upper-back discomfort related to larger breasts, breastfeeding, nursing posture, or the physical demands of caring for an infant are also warmly welcome.

You are welcome whether you are looking for practical self-care tools, a better understanding of what you are feeling in your body, or a supportive place to begin.

This workshop may be especially helpful if you have experienced:

  • Scar tightness, tenderness, sensitivity, or restricted movement after surgery

  • Mastectomy, lumpectomy, reconstruction, port placement, or another breast or chest procedure

  • Radiation-related tissue tightness or fibrosis

  • Breast cancer treatment and recovery

  • Tension, pulling, discomfort, or aching in the breast, chest wall, ribs, shoulder, neck, or upper back

  • Shoulder stiffness, limited reach, or reduced range of motion

  • Postural tension, including rounded-shoulder positioning or a feeling of being “drawn forward” through the chest

No prior experience with fascia work, exercise, or bodywork is needed. You will be guided through each activity step by step and encouraged to work at your own pace. The workshop includes activities on a floor mat, so participants should be able to get down to and up from the floor independently or with light assistance. Please contact us before registering if you have questions about whether the workshop is a good fit for your needs

A Brief Safety Note

This workshop is educational and does not replace individualized medical care, rehabilitation, or lymphedema treatment. Please check with your healthcare provider or lymphedema therapist before attending if you have new or increasing swelling, an active infection, an open wound, a recent surgery, severe pain, or other new symptoms. Lymphedema care commonly involves individualized strategies such as compression, skin care, exercise, and manual lymphatic approaches, so it is important not to present a general workshop as treatment for lymphedema itself.

This workshop is $85 per person and includes equipment you get to take home!

Space is limited to allow for individual support and guidance with these specialized techniques.
